knoot fails open: every hook resolves to allow and sessions carry on uncoordinated, as they would without knoot. What you lose for the duration is shared memory and collision checks, not the ability to work.

That also means a quiet agent proves nothing. knoot status on a machine says whether coordination is actually on there.
